GREENER PASTURES. Junior Archer Aljun Melecio will be moving on up and will be a Green Archer next season.
Who knew that missing out on the Final Four would lead to nothing but good things for De La Salle University?
Only less than a week after Aldin Ayo himself confirmed to be taking his talents from Intramuros to Taft Avenue, the Green Archers scored another coup by securing the commitment of Aljun Melecio.
“Okay na. Sa La Salle na ako next year,” the senior gunner of De La Salle Zobel gleefully told ABS-CBN Sports.
The Junior Archer is a scoring dynamo who leads the league with 24.4 points through four games, including a 42-point outburst against archrival Ateneo de Manila High School to open their campaign, standing only at five-foot seven-inches. He was a Mythical Team member last season and is an early contender for this year’s MVP.
Explaining the reasons behind his decision with so much time left to go before the next UAAP Seniors Season, Melecio said, “First of all, yung education. Sa basketball naman, sobrang ganda ng program.”
Various sources said that Taft Avenue edged out National University which was also wooing him for his services.
Nonetheless, the graduating guard re-assured the DLSZ faithful that he remains focused in bringing them a championship in the ongoing UAAP Juniors Season.
