"Sa five years na yun, sobrang pinaglaban ko yung school ko. So proud na naging student-athlete ako ng UST." - Kevin Ferrer.
Their fairy tale campaign did not end happily ever after but for graduating King Tiger Kevin Ferrer, UAAP Season 78 will always occupy a special place in his heart.
With his five-year collegiate career ending with a third finals defeat, Ferrer says that this season remains special because of the way his UST family played all the way to the finals even if it ended with a loss to the FEU Tamaraws.
"Lumaban kami ng buong pamilya eh. Kahit sinasabi na underdog, lumaban pa rin kami," Ferrer said inside the UST locker room in the immediate aftermath of the Growling Tigers' 62-67 Game 3 defeat at the MOA Arena.
Despite finishing with only six points in his last UAAP game, a far cry from his 29-point explosion in Game 2, Ferrer adds that he has no regrets but knows that he could have done more.
"Ganun talaga ang buhay, ito ang plan ni God. Kung tutuusin naman walang naniwala na aabot kami dito," he said.
"Gusto ko rin manalo eh pero di naman sure na pag sakin lahat ng bola papasok lahat."
As his UAAP career draws to a sad close, Ferrer says that he gave it his all playing for UST. And he will always be proud for his stint with the Growling Tigers.
"Sa five years na yun, sobrang pinaglaban ko yung school ko. So proud na naging student-athlete ako ng UST," he said.
"Binigay ko yung 110 percent ko sa school."
