Since Jolo Mendoza tweaked his left ankle four games ago, defending champion Ateneo de Manila High School have stumbled to 1-3 coming from a 5-1 record in the UAAP 78 Juniors Basketball Championship.

Mendoza and the Blue Eaglets look to get back on the right track at the expense of a University of the East side still searching for win number one at the San Juan Arena, Saturday.

Tip-off is at 3:00 PM.

Those three defeats were courtesy of other top contenders Nazareth School of National University and De La Salle Zobel who have both completed elimination round sweeps of the defending champions. Still, Ateneo remains upbeat about keeping its crown and are only raring to get back to their fine form to start the season.

Meanwhile, the Bullpups and the Junior Archers seek to solidify their stays in the first and second spots, respectively, when they battle separate opponents.

At 3:00 PM, NU seek their 10th win in a row in the tournament against University of Sto. Tomas. Another win will not only keep them in pace for a season sweep, but also clinch them a Final Four berth.

At 9:00 AM, the 8-2 Junior Archers seek to build on their big win the last time around when they take on University of the Philippines Integrated School.

In the day’s other game, Adamson High School and Far Eastern University-Diliman tangle to jockey for position for the playoffs.
