Fit-again Tunay looking to make the most of final season with UST

Fit-again Carmela Tunay is looking to regain peak form for UST.
It seems like UST's Carmela Tunay could not catch a break.
Right when she was playing arguably the best volleyball of her life in the Golden Tigresses' V-League stint late last year, the incoming senior broke her nose on a freak accident.
She was able to return to complete the tournament but she was never the same and UST failed to enter the finals once again.
And with a week to go before UAAP Season 78, her last with UST, the fit-again Tunay is ready to pick up where she left off pre-injury.
"Okay naman pero pag meron akong certain movements inside the court naiilang ako so I have to cover well in transition," Tunay told ABS-CBN Sports on the state of her injured nose that required surgery. "Wag lang matatamaan."
Although she admits having a hard time re-adjusting after the injury suddenly cut off her momentum, Tunay is banking on the fact that she did finally found a new level of play, just a matter of putting the needed work for it to translate in the UAAP.
"I'm really having a hard time na ibalik yung game ko but coach keeps reminding me na nalabas ko nga nung V-League eh so siguro sa UAAP, iba din kasi yung UAAP eh, it will come out. I know magpe-peak din ako and yung team in the right time," she said.
While her injury is fully healed already, one question remains for Tunay.
And for those wondering, no she will not channel her inner Kobe Bryant and wear a protective mask.
"Not necessarily naman. Nung V-League na bumalik ako hindi ako nagsuot kasi the doctor said na mas prone daw yun sa risk kasi if ever baka pati eyes ko ma-damage kung ma-hit ako ulit," she said. "It's as good as normal naman [nose] if ever tatamaan, another injury na naman. Yun lang ang pine-prevent."
