Bong dela Cruz was nowhere to be found in the Growling Tigers' practice in UST last Monday as rumors of him not returning for Season 79 get stronger.
Rumors of Bong dela Cruz no longer returning for a third year with the UST Growling Tigers just got stronger after the coach was absent in the team's practice yesterday.
According to the Varsitarian, the official student publication of UST, the second-year coach who led the Tigers all ther way to the UAAP Finals last December, was nowhere to be found.
Per the report, Juben Ledesma of the women's team was in charge of practice.
This development came after news of dela Cruz will not be returning as head coach for the Tigers for Season 79 and has been replaced by former UST star Bal David.
In his second year on the job, dela Cruz led the Growling Tigers to the top-seed and came close to winning the school's 19th UAAP title before losing to the FEU Tamaraws in game 3, 62-67.
UST missed the Final Four in dela Cruz's first season.
The former UST Tiger Cub and Adamson Falcon was appointed prior to Season 77 after long-time coach Pido Jarencio left for the PBA.
