The UST Growling Tigers are getting support from former head coach Pido Jarencio as the team deals with a sensitive controversy.
At least one man is on the side of the currently embattled UST Growling Tigers.
And that man is former beloved head coach Pido Jarencio.
In one of his rare tweets, the 2006 UAAP champion coach said that it's "sad to hear negative rumors" to his former players.
He also vouched for his former team and said that the rumors are "not true."
Sad to hear negative rumors to my former UST players. It's not true and im here to vouch for it.tthey are god fearing!— pidojarencio (@pidojarencio1) January 28, 2016
Current head coach Bong dela Cruz and the rest of the Growling Tigers have been subject of rumored maltreatment and game-fixing.
Although nothing has been made official by UST, dela Cruz, who led the Tigers to the UAAP finals in his second season, is currently under investigation by the school.
News broke out the dela Cruz has already been fired but after a statement by Fr. Ermito de Sagon, O.P. of the UST as reported by the Varsitarian, he is technically the coach of the team although he is not allowed to attend any activities including practice.
