PUSHING THROUGH. UST has been practicing without coach Bong Dela Cruz.
It has now been confirmed that Bong Dela Cruz is yet to return to the practices of the University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers since the first post-holiday session he called last January 6.
As was reported by ABS-CBN Sports via The Varsitarian, the team practice held last Monday was handled by Tiger Cubs assistant Juben Ledesma with Dela Cruz and his staff nowhere to be found.
What has come to light now is that training only resumed following the insistence of the Growling Tigers themselves. As it turns out, sessions since January 6 were called off by the school administration.
According to sources, Dela Cruz and some members of his staff are currently under investigation by the school administration for a “sensitive issue.” Pressed about the matter, the same sources opted not to disclose any specifics.
However, UST is yet to release any official statement regarding Dela Cruz’s future. As such, the UST High School alumnus is still technically the Growling Tigers’ mentor until said otherwise.
