The UAAP Volleyball season kicked off last weekend, and along with it was the return of the “exclusive source for everything great about the UAAP”, UPFRONT at the UAAP!

Now, if you tuned in to UPFRONT during opening day, then you probably noticed a fresh new face that joined hosts Janeena Chan and Bea Daez, right?

UAAP fans, please welcome Kapamilya star Marco Gumabao to the UPFRONT team! Let’s get to know more about one of this season’s new kids on the block!

One of the country’s fast-rising young actors, Marco has been in show business for the last four years, but says that hosting is a brand new gig for him.

“I’m really excited for this project because it’s the first time that I’m gonna try hosting! For the past four years, I’ve been doing acting lang, and I wanna add another skill also.” Marco told ABS-CBN Sports.

Does the last name sound familiar to you volleyball fans out there? Well maybe that’s because Marco is the younger brother of former DLSU Lady Spiker and ABS-CBN Sports volleyball analyst Michele Gumabao, who was actually the one that got Marco to audition for the job!

A sports enthusiast himself (Marco used to play basketball and used to compete in Muay Thai), Marco has followed volleyball because of his sister Michele, and says that he’s both nervous and at the same time excited to be covering one of the country’s fastest rising sports.

“It’s really a big privilege, kasi this sport, unti-unti siyang lumalaki, unti-unti siyang sumisikat…we’re really fortunate.”

Marco did great during opening day, and we’re sure he’ll only get better as the season goes along!

Done with our first episode for Upfront! I super enjoyed my first hosting job. Thank you for all the good feedback ☺️
