Eaglets eye playoff berth even as DLSZ targets twice-to-beat

1:00 PM – NU vs UE

UPIS 2-10

The playoff picture is getting clearer and clearer now nearing the end of eliminations in the UAAP 78 Juniors Basketball Tournament.

Defending champion Ateneo de Manila High School wants to make it even clearer when they try to punch a ticket into the semifinals all while De La Salle Zobel attempts to seal the deal on a twice-to-beat advantage.

The Blue Eaglets shoot to extend their reign a little bit longer when they battle University of Sto. Tomas at 11:00 AM. No longer hobbled by an ankle injury, Jolo Mendoza is getting closer and closer into regaining his fine form and his return to full strength signals that the defending champions are back to full strength.

With this in mind and a semifinal showdown looming between them, the Junior Archers would like nothing more than to secure the playoff incentive at the expense of Adamson High School at 9:00 AM.

Aljun Melecio and the boys from Alabang have swept their archrivals, but nonetheless welcome claiming the second and last twice-to-beat advantage. The only problem for them is that they would have to do it against the Baby Falcons who are not only desperate to stay alive for a playoff berth, but also registered a win against them in the first round.

Meanwhile, Nazareth School of National University looks to keep marching forward straight to the Finals when they take on still winless University of the East at 1:00 PM. At 12-0, the Bullpups are two wins away from an elimination round sweep and are focused as ever in avoiding any letdowns.

In the day’s other game, Far Eastern University-Diliman seeks to take their Final Four fate into their own hands against University of the Philippines Integrated School at 3:00 PM. A playoff berth is the Baby Tamaraws’ to take when they score a victory and when Adamson suffers a defeat.
