UST head coach denies accusations of maltreatment
Bong dela Cruz issues a statement regarding the controversies surrounding the UST Growling Tigers and he denies the accusations thrown at him.

Embattled UST Growling Tigers head coach Bong dela Cruz finally broke his silence regarding the several issues hounding the team.

In a statement posted by Camille Naredo of ABS-CBN News, the second-year coach denied the accusations being thrown at him.

Dela Cruz is being investigated by UST officials for alleged maltreatment on some of his players.

"Nais kong ipabatid na simula nang lumabas ang mga usapin laban sa akin ay nagpasya akong manahimik, dahil walang katotohanan ang mga binabatong issues laban sa akin," dela Cruz said. "Alam ko sa aking sarli na malinis ang aking konsensya."

He added that he will rather talk in detail on a proper forum to address the issues regarding his status with the team and the University.

Dela Cruz, who led the Tigers to a surprise finals berth a year after missing the Final Four in his rookie season, also said that he is saddened because he and his family have been subject to trial by publicity.

"Umaasa din ako na sana ay hindi na madamay pa ang aming unibersidad na ang tanging hangarin lamang ay ang kapakanan ng kanilang magaaral," he said at the conclusion of the statement.

UST officials have been conducting an investigation to uncover the truth regarding the issues and per previous reports by the Varsitarian, UST's official student publication, Dela Cruz is not suspended and is technically still the coach of the Tigers although he has been asked to attend team activities for now.
