Hindi pa rin ako contented pero darating din naman ako doon (sa dating laro ko) --- Ara Galang
De La Salle star Ara Galang gave a glimpse of her dangerous form as she led the Lady Spikers to a 78th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament opening day victory over the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws.
Galang scored all her 10 points from kills in DLSU’s 29-27, 25-23, 25-20, win but the graduating open hitter is far from satisfied in her performance 11 months after a harrowing knee injury that ended her season last year.
“Happy and excited talaga ako and ‘yun nga I feel blessed. Unang-una na nakapasok ako sa lineup sa team and then ‘yun nga first game,” said the fifth year Lady Spiker. “Pero for me, siyempre, hindi pa rin ako contented pero darating din naman ako doon (sa dating laro ko).”
Galang, who suffered left knee anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear, a big bone bruise, a medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear and a medial meniscus tear injury in DLSU’s campaign in the semifinals last year against the National University Lady Bulldogs, added five digs and five perfect receptions.
Her defensive effort proved that Galang is no longer bothered by her injury.
“’Yung fear totally wala na,” she said.
“Sabi nga nila psychological lang naman. ‘Yun ang una kong dinevelop and in-adjust,” she added. “For me 100% na ako.”
She’s just thankful for another chance – her last - to play for the green and white.
“Sobrang happy. Siyempre magagawa ko ulit (ang mga ginagawa) ko and mapapakita ko ulit ang talent ko,” said Galang.
