Dave Pletado fueled Adamson University to a bounce back straight sets victory over University of the East.
Adamson University bounced back from an opening day setback, venting its ire on the hapless University of the East Red Warriors in straight sets, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23, Saturday in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Falcons dismantled the young and undermanned Red Warriors in 70 minutes to barge in the win column after suffering an embarrassment to open the season.
Jerome Sarmiento smashed in nine kills in his total of 10 points for Adamson. Dave Pletado and Bryan Saraza also chipped in 10 markers while skipper Michael Sudaria had seven points for the Falcons, who are coming off an awful 22-25, 22-25, 7-25, beating at the hands of Season 77 runner up National University last week.
Adamson took advantage of UE’s 28 errors and had eight more attack points with 38 compared to the Red Warriors.
UE suffered its second straight defeat after bowing down also in three frames against De La Salle University where the Red Warriors lost its starting middle sophomore Samuel Lelic to a left ankle injury (dislocated).
Season 77 Rookie of the Year Edward Camposano finished with 12 points but was the only Red Warrior in double figures. Freshman Ruvince Arbot had nine markers while Geric Ortega had six for UE, which dropped to a 16-game losing slump since a winless outing last year.
