FIGURE IT OUT. Today will determine if there will be a Final Four or if there will be stepladder playoffs instead.
Games on Saturday at the San Juan Arena
9:00 AM – UPIS vs UE
11:00 AM – NU vs DLSZ
1:00 PM – FEU-Diliman vs Ateneo
3:00 PM – UST vs Adamson
Even before the end of eliminations in the UAAP 78 Juniors Basketball Tournament, the playoff participants are already set and ready to go.
Still, that doesn’t make the last gameday at the San Juan Arena, Saturday any less interesting.
Most crucial is a duel between top two teams Nazareth School of National University and De La Salle Zobel at 11:00 AM. The Bullpups are one win away from an elims sweep and the Junior Archers are the last ones standing in their rampage right towards the Finals.
A 14th consecutive victory for NU will scrap a Final Four and instead set stepladder playoffs among the second to fourth-seeds. That the thus far dominant Bullpups will even get for themselves a bit of a break is something DLSZ hopes to avoid.
Then at 1:00 PM, Ateneo de Manila High School looks to hold off Far Eastern University-Diliman for the third-seed. Only one win separates the two teams at the moment and the defending champion Blue Eaglets want nothing more than to avoid any complications.
Meanwhile, University of the East will go all out to prevent a second winless season in a row when they take on a University of the Philippines Integrated School side searching for win number two at 9:00 AM.
In the day’s other game, Adamson High School and University of Sto. Tomas seed to end the season on a high note in their 3:00 PM tiff.
