Far Eastern University eyes its first win of the season against University of the East.
Far Eastern University head coach Shaq Delos Santos managed to flash a smile even after falling victim to De La Salle University last Wednesday to open their campaign in the 78th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
It was not the start he envisioned for his team but what they learned from that loss according to Delos Santos will help them in the long run.
“Ang sa amin hindi naman namin tinitingan ‘yung first game namin. Ang sa amin dito nagkaroon kami ng magandang performance and nakita namin na marami pa kaming dapat paghandaan,” he said. “Kumbaga nasukat na namin kung ano ang dapat gawin.”
The Lady Tams are now better equipped when they face the University of the East Lady Warriors on Sunday at The Arena in San Juan in a bid to bounce back from that DLSU setback.
Opening serve is slated at 4:00 p.m. and will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap.
FEU was waylaid by the Lady Spikers, 27-29, 23-25, 20-25 five days ago.
Bernadeth Pons, Remy Palma, Toni Basas and Jerrili Malabanan are expected to show a better showing this timeout against a team that never tasted victory since 2012.
The Lady Warriors are on a 46-game losing streak since their last win in Season 74.
UE was swept by the young University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 20-25, 13-25, 21-25, a week ago.
Shaya Adorador, Judith Abil, Roselle Baliton and last year’s Rookie of the Year Kat Arado will be the Lady Warriors’ weapons when they take on the Lady Tams.
