"FOR ROGIE! UP FIGHT!"
It’s been quite a couple of weeks for the UP Community, especially for the Men’s Football team after the passing of their teammate and brother Rogie Maglinas.
Still, there wasn’t much time for the Maroon booters to grieve, as they began their Season 78 campaign last Sunday, and their first assignment was none other than the defending champions, FEU.
Playing with heavy hearts but definitely motivated by their brother Rogie, UP held FEU to a scoreless draw.
“Definitely, the boys wanted to win this badly, for Rogie, and I reminded them to stick with the objectives, baka mamaya maging too emotional. I wanted them to stick to the objectives and focus on the game at hand.” UP mentor Anto Gonzales told the media following the match.
Though everything that the team has been through the past few days, Gonzales said that his boys were pretty tired.
Gonzales also said that he reminded the team that to keep Rogie in their minds, everytime that things began to get difficult.
“Siguro alalahanin na lang si Rogie when they feel like giving up, alalahanin nila si Rogie to toughen them up. “ Gonzales said.
The team has already dedicated the season to their teammate, friend, and brother, and before their familiar “UP Fight!” battle cry during every huddle, they yell out with nothing but pure emotion, “FOR ROGIE!”
