Double wins for DLSU football on opening day

De La Salle owned McKinley Hill Stadium, Sunday evening, after scoring double wins in the opening day of UAAP Season 78 Football.
In the men's division, DLSU downed rivals Ateneo, 3-1, following a second half surge.
The Green Booters took the lead early, courtesy of a 21st minute goal from Greggy Yang, but the equalizer came in the form of a Cristian Castillo header, just a couple of minutes later.
Late in the second half, DLSU nearly gave the game to Ateneo, after a hard foul gifted the Katipunan-based squad with a penalty kick.
Thankfully for the green side, keeper Raphael De Guzman came up with arguably his biggest save of the night, stopping Emilio Acosta's free kick.
In the 89th mark, Jan Cruz put the Taft-based booters up.
2 minutes into injury time, Gelo Diamante put the final nail in the coffin, tipping in a Yang free kick to give DLSU the 3-1 win.
Post game, DLSU coach Hans Smit talked about knowing when to field in some of this new players in Cruz, Javier Romero-Salas, and Carlos Joseph.
"If you noticed, that's when we scored, when I put the three rookies in. I knew that I couldn't put them in too early, I was timing everything.
In the earlier women's match, the DLSU came back from a goal down to defeat Ateneo, 4-3.
Kyla Inquig scored the first goal for DLSU before Ateneo took the lead courtesy of Kathleen Rodriguez and Ma. Beatrice Velasco.
In the second half, Ateneo's Isabella Sabio accidentaly gave DLSU an equalizer via an own goal, and both teams scored one more goal apiece to bring them even at 3.
Two minutes into injury time, DLSU's Sara Castañeda clinched the DLSU win with a late goal.
