Far Eastern University seeks its second win in three outings against University of the East.
Far Eastern University is looking to bounce back from a severe beating it suffered at the hands of the defending champion Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles last Saturday.
The Tamaraws target the struggling University of the East to vent their ire with on Wednesday in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Opening serve is slated at 8:00 a.m.
The Morayta-based squad is in a four-team logjam in third to sixth place with 1-1 win-loss card tied with Adamson, De La Salle University and University of the Philippines.
Repeat-seeking Ateneo and last year’s runner up National University share the lead with unblemished cards after two assignments.
FEU swept UP to start its campaign but were crushed by the Blue Eagles, 18-25, 19-25, 13-25, in a match that lasted for only 78 minutes.
Poor reception was the main problem of the Tams as they allowed Ateneo to score 11 service aces and FEU also gave away 27 points off errors. Without a good first ball, FEU hitters were silenced with Greg Dolor and Jeric Gacutan scoring only a combined 10 points.
However, the Tams did better the last time out compared to the Red Warriors.
After a listless outing last season, UE is slowly heading to the same direction as it remains in the cellar with a 0-2 record tied with University of Sto. Tomas.
With only Season 77 sophomore Edward Camposano and rookie Ruvince Abrot showing specks of light in the Red Warriors’ slowly dimming campaign, UE absorbed an 18-25, 14-25, 23-25 loss four days ago against Adamson.
The Red Warriors bowed to DLSU in their season opener where UE lost sophomore Samuel Lelic to a dislocated left ankle injury.
