National University aims for its third win in a row and firm hold of the top spot.
National University tries to keep its tight grip of the solo lead when the Bulldogs battle an upset-conscious University of the Philippines Saturday in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Bulldogs put their perfect 2-0 win-loss record on the line in the 10:00 a.m. match that will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap.
NU was given a free ride to the solo lead when Adamson scored a huge upset against erstwhile unbeaten defending champion Ateneo de Manila.
Learning from Blue Eagles defeat, the Bulldogs hope to avoid a surprise by the Maroons.
Behind rookie James Natividad, sophomore Bryan Bagunas and veterans Madzlan Gampong and graduating setter Vince Mangulabnan, NU swept De La Salle, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20, last Sunday.
UP, on the other hand, is fresh from a bounce back win against the listless University of Sto. Tomas, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, last Sunday.
The Maroons, who opened their campaign with a straight sets loss to Far Eastern University, will bank on Wendel Miguel, rookie John Mark Millete, and veterans Alfred Valbuena and Evan Raymundo to capture their second straight win to shake out of a two-way 1-1 slate tie with DLSU.
