ACE-GAME. DLSU had 14 aces - seven times the total of their opponents - in their bounce back win.
Falling for the first time in the 78th Season of the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament, everybody expected De La Salle University to come out in their next game with nothing but a return to form in mind.
The focus was there on Saturday at the San Juan Arena alright, and then some, as the Lady Spikers overwhelmed Adamson University in all aspects for a convincing straight sets victory, 25-13, 25-13, 25-16.
DLSU showed laser focus from the start of the match, the sets, and all the way to their services. Majoy Baron and May Luna had three aces apiece as part of a team total of 14 compared to the two their opponents mustered.
Ara Galang was the only one in double-digits with 10 points, but a total of nine players contributed in the scoring column for the Lady Spikers. The Taft-based team owned the taraflex in terms of spiking, 36-18, and blocking, 10-2.
Satisfied with the effort of his girls, a smiling Ramil De Jesus said, “Dalawa lang yan, lumubog o magpakita ng interes na bumangon.”
He then continued, “Ngayon naman, nagpakita sila na gusto nilang bumangon.”
Just how dominant was DLSU in their third win in four games? Setter Kim Fajardo was their second-leading scorer with nine.
May Roque and her nine markers fronted the effort for the Lady Falcons who fell to 1-2.
