Myla Pablo and the National University Lady Bulldogs gun for their third straight win.
After a statement win against last year’s runner up De La Salle University, National University’s confidence is on an all-time high.
The Lady Bulldogs hope to keep their momentum going as they face a team still struggling to find its first win in five seasons.
NU is looking for win no. 3 Sunday in a clash with winless University of the East Lady Warriors in the 78th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Opening serve of the match that will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap is scheduled at 2:00 p.m.
With the troika of Jaja Santiago, Jorelle Singh and Myla Pablo scoring 16 points each, NU shocked its Season 77 stepladder semifinals tormentors Lady Spikers, 25-16, 26-24, 14-25, 25-23, for its second straight win last Wednesday after an opening day setback at the hands of league-leading defending champion Ateneo de Manila.
Head coach Roger Gorayeb said that they want to take advantage of their huge upset victory to jumpstart their goal of making it to the Finals.
“Hindi na lang namin pababayaan 'yan, ikaka-capitalize namin 'yan," said Gorayeb.
Taller and with a deeper arsenal, the Lady Bulldogs are favored to stomp their class over the free falling Lady Warriors.
UE dropped its second loss of the season against the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 18-25, 11-25, 25-21, 14-25, last week to remain buried in the cellar.
It's the Lady Warriors’ 47th straight loss since winning against NU in five sets back in January 28, 2012.
