Salenga on NU’s impressive start: “Parang magkakapatid na kami”

"Hindi namin papabayaan yung isa’t isa.”
Early in to the UAAP Season 78 Men’s Football tournament, the National University Bulldogs are putting everyone on notice after putting together a perfect start in their first two games.
What’s more impressive though, is that they remain the only team in the league that has yet to be scored on, something that not even the defending champion Far Eastern University Tamaraws can claim.
While team captain Paolo Salenga has been a constant for the Bulldogs, already knocking in two goals this season, an unlikely weapon has emerged from the Sampaloc-based squad in fourth year man Nico Macapal.
Macapal has already scored three goals this season, and says that he plans to keep scoring in the coming games.
“Every game, kailangan ko po talaga mag-score, kahit mahirap man yung team o malakas, kailangan talaga ako mag-score. Kung i-iscore man ako sa team, lahat naman ‘yun, damay lahat, sa coaches, sa team, lahat-lahat” Macapal said following their win over Adamson.
For Salenga, a huge key to their early success is their unity as a team.
“Team bonding lang siguro, parang magkakapatid na kami. Hindi namin papabayaan yung isa’t isa.” Salenga told ABS-CBN Sports when asked about what has the Bulldogs clicking.
For a team that’s motivated to crack the top-four following missing out by just inches last season, opening the season on a two-game winning streak is a really good start.
