RED ALERT. Nothing was slowing down Kim Fajardo and Carol Cerveza anymore.
De La Salle University quickly put their first setback of the season behind them by overwhelming Adamson University throughout three sets on Saturday.
A balanced offensive saw nine Lady Spikers appearing in the scoring column – a welcome sight after only Majoy Baron was able to do something in their defeat to National University the last time around.
In particular, setter Kim Fajardo enjoyed a return to fine form with 18 excellent sets. Interestingly, she also did some damage in scoring with a total of nine points.
As it turns out, the Lady Spikers’ captain was back to fine form because she was back at full health.
In his post-win interview, coach Ramil De Jesus revealed that their matchup against NU last Wednesday was the first day of the menstrual cycle for both Fajardo and Carol Cerveza. “Medyo nakaapekto rin noon na first day nila,” he said.
In a separate interview, Fajardo confirmed her coach’s claim in saying, “First time kasi na naglaro ako at nagkataong first day ng dysmenorrhea. ‘Di ko alam gagawin.”
