The young UP team showed some maturity with a tough four-set win against Adamson.
UP's new recruits showed that they belong in the big leagues.
Against an always tough Adamson Lady Falcons, the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons earned a tough 26-24, 25-27, 25-21, 25-19 victory in the UAAP Season 78 women's volleyball tournament at the San Juan Arena, Wednesday.
Rookie Isabel Molde had a complete game, exploding for 23 points to lead the Lady Maroons in their statement win. The former Hope Christian High School standout also had 11 digs and three blocks.
"Buti nakalusot," head coach Jerry Yee said. "Kung gusto namin mag top-4, we try to win as many games as possible and then sa isip namin, may teams kami na tina-target na dapat talunin."
The Lady Maroons got their groove in the second half of the match as they were able to stop Jessica Galanza from doing more damage for the Lady Falcons.
Justine Dorog finised it off for UP, 25-19, to avoid a similar meltdown like they had in the second set.
UP was at set point, 24-22, before Mylene Paat led an Adamson charge to tie the game at one set apiece.
The Lady Maroons tied the FEU Lady Tamaraws at 2-2 behind while the Lady Falcons crashed to their third straight defeat.
Galanza scored 25 points for Adamson while Paat added 23 but had little to no support from the rest of the team.
