Ateneo de Manila guns to start another winning run in a clash with University of the Philippines.
The defending champion Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles and the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons dispute the share of the lead on Sunday in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at MOA Arena.
Game time is set at 8:00 a.m. where the winner will climb on the top spot to sit beside league-leading National University Bulldogs.
The Fighting Maroons are currently one of the hottest teams in the league with three straight victories including a 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 27-25 victory against De La Salle last Wednesday to tie the Blue Eagles and Adamson with 3-1 win-loss slate behind the Bulldogs, who own a 4-1 mark for the solo lead.
UP will bank on Wendel Miguel, John Millete and Alfred Valbuena against the solid lineup of Ateneo led by back-to-back Moist Valuable Player Marck Espejo, graduating player Ysay Marasigan and Rex Intal.
After absorbing a tough five set loss to Adamson, the Blue Eagles barely escaped the Green Spikers in another tight 25-20, 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10, a week ago.
Ateneo is looking to start another winning run and avoid slipping down the standing.
