The Tamaraws get the better of the Tigers again.
It was a matchup between eternal UAAP rivals UST and FEU so the game being close was really not a surprise.
And dating back to a certain Finals encounter in the first semester, the green and gold combination was slightly better than black and gold.
The FEU Tamaraws took care of business in the UAAP Season 78 men's volleyball tournament as they beat the UST Tiger Spikers, 25-21, 24-26, 31-29, 25-21, at the MOA Arena Saturday.
A momentum-shifting third set win as all the Tamaraws needed to get to half a game back of second place with a 3-2 record.
"Pina-practice naman namin yun yung mga crucial points kaya mas maganda yan na nabigyan kami ng ganyang laro, ine-expect namin na tataas yung morale ng mga bata," head coach Reynaldo Diaz said referring to the third set that FEU won, 31-29.
Following that win, the Tamaraws just cruised to a 25-21 victory in the fourth to bounce back from their previous loss to Adamson.
Jude Garcia was the man for FEU, finishing with 16 points while Greg Dolor was a close second with 15.
The Tigers, now losers of two straight and have further dropped to 1-4, were led Manuel Medina with 17.
"Yung UST talagang pinakita nila na karibal pa rin namin sila, binigyan talaga kami ng magandang laro," Diaz added.
