"Ayoko naman isipin na tumatanda na, enjoy lang malayo pa." --- Alyssa Valdez.
Alyssa Valdez is closer to the end of her illustrious UAAP career than she is at the beginning and she knows it.
The reigning two-time MVP would also appreciate it if we don't talk about it that much as to not make her feel "old."
"I'm trying to make the most out of the time so enjoy lang, hindi ko masyado iniisip," Valdez said after another Ateneo win. "Feeling ko matanda na ako pag iniisip ko."
Almost halfway through in her last UAAP season, Valdez has been feeling mixed emotions on the entire experience.
She's happy for some obvious reasons but sad at the same time because her "comfort zone" is going to be gone.
"Mixed emotions pero sobrang saya kasi syempre matatapos din pala. I really had a great time sa UAAP and sa Ateneo," Valdez said. "But then sad din na yung comfort zone mo mawawala na which is the college [game]."
Suiting up for Ateneo first with the "Fab Five" the Queen Eagle can't help but feel a little old now that she shares the court with a lot of young rising stars.
"Nakakagulat nga yung mga faces na nakikita ko 'oh my God I feel so old.' Natapos ko na isang generation nila, nandun pa rin ako," she said. "Kasi mga kalaban namin 17-18 [years old] pati mga teammates ko."
With only a handful of games left, Valdez is looking to go out on top but understands that the season is still a long way to go.
"Ayoko naman isipin na tumatanda na, enjoy lang malayo pa."
