National University and Far Eastern University lock horns to occupy solo third spot in the standings.
After absorbing a terrible beating at the hands of last year’s Finals series tormentor Ateneo de Manila University, the National University Bulldogs are hoping to bounce back on Wednesday against Far Eastern University.
Both the Bulldogs and Tamaraws gun for solo third place to end the first round of eliminations in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Game time is set at 10:00 a.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap.
Losing most of its core after last season’s two-game championship series loss to the Blue Eagles, NU was no match against the intact and seasoned Ateneo side as the Bulldogs bowed down in straights sets, 19-25, 15-25, 15-25, last Saturday for a 4-2 win-loss card they share with FEU.
“Malaki pa rin ang tiwala ko na makakabawi kami,” said NU fifth year playmaker and skipper Vince Mangulabnan.
Mangulabnan will have Bryan Bagunas, James Natividad, Madzlan Gampong and Francis Saura to back him up when they take on FEU’s Greg Dolor, Joshua Barrica, Jeric Gacutan and John Paul Bugaoan.
The Tams collected their first back-to-back victories of the season with a four-set demolition of De La Salle, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19, last Sunday.
