Lady Spikers hunt for blood after huge setback
Healing its wounded pride will be De La Salle's battle cry.

De La Salle seeks to bounce back from a huge upset loss when the Lady Spikers take center court to challenge Far Eastern University on Saturday in the 78th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament second round eliminations at The Arena in San Juan.

The Lady Spikers failed to take advantage of the momentum they earned in shooting down the three-peat seeking Ateneo De Manila last Saturday as University of Sto. Tomas pulled of a stunning straight sets victory that foiled DLSU’s attempt to take a share of the lead.

The embarrassing 21-25, 22-25, 21-25 loss the Lady Spikers absorbed kept them in solo second place with 5-2 win-loss record behind league-leading Lady Eagles, whose lone defeat halted their 24-game rampage dating back to Season 76 Finals Game 3 and first defeat in the last seven head-to-heads with bitter rival DLSU.

Closely lurking behind the Taft-based squad is FEU, which is tied with idle University of the Philippines with identical 4-3 slates. A win by the Lady Tams will force a two-way tie at second to third.

The match is scheduled at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap.

The Lady Tams are fresh from goring National University, 25-22, 25-21, 25-21, last Sunday and are looking to avenge their 27-29, 23-25, 20-25, first round defeat to the Lady Spikers in the season opener.

Bernadeth Pons, league’s third leading scorer Toni Rose Basas and Remy Palma will be the focal points of FEU’s offense against DLSU’s veteran roster composed of Ara Galang, Mika Reyes, league-leading blocker Majoy Baron and top setter of the first round Kim Fajardo.
