University of Sto. Tomas is looking to start a winning run.

University of Sto. Tomas aims to start a winning run on Sunday at the start of the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament second round eliminations at The Arena in San Juan.

The Tigers take on the listless University of the East Red Warriors in the 8:00 a.m. match.

UST is coming off a quick 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 win over De La Salle last Wednesday to end the first round with a 2-5 win-loss slate in sixth spot.

The Espana-based squad wants to duplicate its 25-21, 26-24, 25-18, victory against the Red Warriors in the first round to give new life to the Tigers’ Final Four hopes.

UE is winless in seven starts for a total of 21 straight defeats.

The Red Warriors closed the opening round with a sorry 21-25, 27-25, 19-25, 25-20, 12-15 loss to University of the Philippines last week.
