Andes brace powers FEU past Adamson for second straight win

Rookie Rico Andes had himself another impressive outing, scoring a brace to help the defending champions Far Eastern University cruise to a 4-0 win over the Adamson Falcons, Sunday afternoon at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig.

The Tams dominated the first half and had the advantage early on, thanks to a Paolo Bugas penalty conversion just ten minutes into the match.

Four minutes later, Andes found the back of the net for his first goal of the afternoon, sending the Tams up two-zip.

The second half saw a more aggressive Adamson team, getting better chances as compared to the first 45 minutes, but still couldn’t get a conversion of their own.

Andes, who wasn’t having any trouble scoring this afternoon, put his name in the books for the second time after pushing the FEU lead to a comfy 3-0 65 minutes in.

The final blow came from Audie Menzi, scoring in injury time and securing the FEU win.

“Sa ngayon, mas maganda na, na-momotivate na kami,” Andes, who leads FEU in goals scored this season, told ABS-CBN Sports following the match. “Nakaka-adjust na kami and kinukuha na namin yung chances namin sa goal.”

Coming from a two-game slide, the Tamaraws are now riding a two game winning streak, with both wins coming in decisive fashion. For the young Andes, he believes that those losses were a huge motivation.

“Yung mga talo namin, naging daan yun para ma-tama namin yung mga mali namin at gawin namin yung mga dapat naming gawin.”

The win earns FEU three points and pushes them to third place with 11 points, while UP is close behind with 11 points of their own, the separation coming only from goal difference.

Adamson on the other hand, finishes the first round with one win and six losses for three points.
