Para makabawi kami nitong second round against Adamson, pinrepare naming yung utak namin na alisin namin ang lahat ng doubt sa sarili namin -- Santiago
After three straight setbacks, National University middle blocker Jaja Santiago and the rest of the Lady Bulldogs rediscovered their confidence to open the 78th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament second round of eliminations on a high note Sunday.
The Lady Bulldogs woke up from the slump and waylaid the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-18, 25-12, 25-18, at The Arena in San Juan to improve to 4-4 tied with University of Sto. Tomas.
The 6-foot-5 Santiago said that more than plotting their game plan against the Lady Falcons, the Lady Bulldogs focused in preparing their mindset.
“Normal naman ‘yung mag-ensayo kami ng offense and defense ganoon. Pero ang pinakahinanda namin dito ay ‘yung utak namin at puso namin,” said the third year national team mainstay.
“Kasi ‘yung tatlong pagkatalo namin noong first round sobrang na-down kami noon e,” she added. “Para makabawi kami nitong second round against Adamson, pinrepare naming yung utak namin na alisin namin ang lahat ng doubt sa sarili namin. Kailangan lalaban kami ng buo, solid dapat ang samahan namin.”
And it did wonders especially for her.
Santiago scored 13 points with 12 coming from quick kills and thunderous attacks that the vaunted floor defense of Adamson failed to stop, erasing the hitters disappointing four-point production in a 19-25, 21-25, 20-25, loss to University of the Philippines last Wednesday to end the first round.
