University of Sto. Tomas sparked its first winning streak of the season with a walk in the park sweep of University of the East.
The Tigers needed only 61 minutes to send the Red Warriors to a 22-game losing skid with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-11 victory to open the second round of the 78th UAAP men's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Jason Sarabia came up with game-high 13 points to pace UST, which improved to 3-5 record. Jomaru Amagan and Manuel Medina added nine and seven markers, respectively, for the Espana-based squad that duplicated its three-ser mastery over UE in the first round.
The Red Warriors were out of the game the whole match and dropped to 0-8 slate.
Season 77 Rookie of the Year Edward Camposano was limited to nine points while Noel Alba and Ruvince Abrot combined for nine markers in another woeful outing for the Red Warriors, who gave the Tigers 33 free points off their errors.
UE has not tasted victory since closing their campaign in Season 76.
