Blue Eagles stake four-game winning streak against Maroons
Ateneo de Manila and University of the Philippines cross paths in elims rematch.

Defending champion Ateneo de Manila and University of the Philippines face off in their own version of “Battle of Katipunan” on Wednesday with the Blue Eagles putting their four-game winning streak at stake.

Reigning back-to-back Most Valuable Player Marck Espejo and the rest of his Ateneo crew take center court in the scheduled 10:00 a.m. eliminations rematch in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.

The match will air live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap.

The Blue Eagles are on solo top spot with a 7-1 win-loss record and are coming off a tight 19-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-21, 15-11, escape over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws last Saturday to start the second round.

On the other hand, the Maroons fell short against De La Salle University five days ago in five sets, 25-27, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23, 11-15.

UP is in fifth spot with a 4-4 slate and are looking for a bounce back as well as to avenge an 18-25, 19-25, 21-25 first round loss to Ateneo.
