University of Sto. Tomas expects a more aggressive De La Salle University in their elimination round rematch.
University of Sto. Tomas coach Kung Fu Reyes is bracing for a tough battle against De La Salle on Saturday in the 78th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The Golden Tigresses pulled off a shocking 25-21, 25-22, 25-21, victory over the Lady Spikers, who are then fresh from ending two-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila’s 24-game winning streak, to close the first round of eliminations.
“Definitely babawian kami ni La Salle,” said Reyes on their scheduled 4:00 p.m. rematch.
“‘Yun na lang ang dalhin nilang attitude, ‘tinalo na natin ‘yan eh tatalunin ulit natin ‘yan’. Kung magiging ganoon ang attitude hindi kami masyadong mamomroblema,” he added.
The showdown will air live on ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23, ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166 and via livestream at sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap.
UST is on a two-game roll, striking down University of the East in straight sets, 25-17, 25-23, 25-16 last week for a 4-4 win-loss record at sixth spot.
The Lady Spikers, on the other hand, barely escaped a scare from Far Eastern University, 25-14, 25-9, 22-25, 19-25, 15-7, to open the second round.
DLSU sits on second spot at 6-2 card, just a win clear of league-leading Ateneo (7-2).
