The Lady Maroons continue to work their way up the standings.
The Lady Maroons continue their impressive climb in the UAAP.
University of the Philippines scored a fourth straight win after a 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 dismantling of the Adamson University in the Season 78 women's volleyball tournament at the San Juan Arena Saturday.
Adamson, reeling from their losing skid and the resignation of head coach Sherwin Meneses, put up a challenge in the opening set, 23-18.
However, the Lady Maroons fired a 7-0 run to steal the set and then eventually the game.
UP remains at solo third with a 6-3 record while the Lady Falcons dropped to 3-6.
"Pangit pero we'll take the win," head coach Jerry Yee said as his wards keep in step with the leaders after a fourth straight victory. "Mahirap pala na maipit sa cloud nine na yan."
After a comeback to draw first blood, the Lady Maroons won the next two sets in similar close fashion as they had to weather several late rallies from the Lady Falcons.
Diane Carlos led UP with 13 points while fellow super rookie Isa Molde added nine. Team captain Kathy Bersola finished with 11.
The Lady Falcons, who dedicated the game to former coach Sherwin Meneses, were led by May Roque with 11 markers. Mylene Paat and Jessica Galanza scored 10 each.
All Adamson players were also spotted having a star patch in their left arm with an "S" at the center.
Meneses resigned this week and men's coach Domingo Custodio led the team on an interim basis against UP.
