Maroons target repeat over Red Warriors

University of the Philippines is looking to end a two-game slide in a clash with University of the East.
Getting its confidence back is the mission of the University of the Philippines on Sunday when the Fighting Maroons collide with winless University of the East Red Warriors in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
Opening serve is scheduled at 8:00 a.m.
The Fighting Maroons are within striking distance of the top four with a 4-5 record behind the Far Eastern University Tamaraws (5-4).
UP is coming from a two-game losing slide in the second round of eliminations dropping a five-set 25-27, 21-25, 25-18, 25-23, 11-15 loss to De La Salle University last week before bowing to defending champion Ateneo de Manila, 9-25, 25-27, 15-25, last Wednesday.
However, the Diliman-based squad is favored in their rematch with the Red Warriors, who remain listless in nine outings.
UP’s last victory was against UE, a marathon 25-21, 25-27, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12 decision last February 28.
The Red Warriors are reeling from a 23-game losing slump dating back from last year’s edition.
