By the Numbers: Status Quo

Last week looked like the calm before the storm as the top three teams remained the same. That may change starting tomorrow.
If you blinked, you probably missed an entire week of UAAP Volleyball.
It looked like all teams were in a hurry in the past three game days as no match saw a fourth set.
Despite a relatively quiet week, status quo remains in our board as Ateneo, La Salle and UP continue to be the top three while the race for the fourth spots is still very much crowded.
However, all of that may change this week starting with the very crucial game between the Lady Spikers and the Lady Maroons.
But before all that, let's review what happened last week. Don't blink, you might miss it.
Number of games that ended in sweeps this week.
Seriously, no game saw a fourth set and that also means that all eight UAAP teams have been swept this season following UST's loss to La Salle last Saturday.
Speaking of La Salle, the Lady Spikers, along with the Lady Maroons and two-time champions Lady Eagles all had workouts this past week as all their games ended in just over an hour each.
Number of blocks by La Salle's Majoy Baron against UST.
Baron only scored eight points against the Tigresses and six of them came from the defensive end. Trying to beat the Baroness of the Block at the net is already a daunting task and together with La Salle's tall frontline, it may look next to impossible really.
Good luck UAAP.
Average excellent sets by Ateneo's Jia Morado last week.
The reigning UAAP best setter made sure the Lady Eagles would snap a two-game losing skid and she responded by running the Ateneo offense to perfection.
Morado had 33 excellent sets in the sweep of NU last Wednesday and had another 37 in their sweep of FEU last Sunday.
Points scored by Alyssa Valdez last week.
The direct beneficiary of Morado's exploits is none other than the MVP.
Valdez scored 20 points in each of Ateneo's two wins this week as the Queen Eagle is back to her usual dominant self.
Other players score 40 points for the year, Valdez did it in six sets.
Consecutive wins by the University of the Philippines.
The young Lady Maroons continue to impress as they extend their winning streak to four games after sweeping Adamson last Saturday.
At 6-3, UP will have to chance to go for joint second place against the 7-2 La Salle Lady Spikers.
Gametime is tomorrow, don't miss it.
