Bia General of National University is set to undergo an exam on her right elbow Sunday to know the extent of the injury she sustained in the fourth set that took her out of the Lady Bulldogs’ match against Far Eastern University Saturday in the 78th UAA women's volleyball tournament.
The fourth year defensive spacialist left the Philsports Arena in Pasig City with a bandage wrapped around her elbow after her teammate rookie Jasmine Nabor rolled over her arm while diving for a ball in the crucial stretch of the fourth frame.
“Nadaganan po siya. Masakit po and hindi ko masyado magalaw,” said General, who had her elbow wrapped with an ice pack.
General had 21 digs and 15 perfect reception before being forced to hit the bench with a physical therapist attending to her injured elbow. Gayle Valdez took over the void left by General.
With General at the sidelines, the Lady Tams took advantage in attacking the Lady Bulldogs’ backline to eke out a 27-25, 25-17, 22-25, 26-28, 15-10, victory to hurt NU’s chances of making it to the Final Four.
The Lady Bulldogs slid to 5-6 win-loss record tied with University of Sto. Tomas at fifth to sixth spot, a full game behind the Lady Tams (6-5).
