Nakakainis nga na parang ang malas ko na bawat season laging may injury, nakakainis -- Bryan Bagunas (No. 8)
National University sophomore hitter Bryan Bagunas couldn’t help but feel disappointed with the amount of injuries he sustained this season.
“Nakakainis nga na parang ang malas ko na bawat season laging may injury, nakakainis,” said Bagunas, who was sidelined because a hyper extended left knee he suffered during practice.
He was in uniform but sat out in the Bulldogs’ 25-17, 25-19, 25-17, dismantling of University of the Philippines in the 78th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament Sunday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
“Pinagpahinga po muna ako,” said Bagunas, who played in NU’s loss to Ateneo de Manila last week after recovering from a bruised knee.
Bagunas suffered the injury when NU libero Ricky Marcos accidentally collided with him during practice.
“Noong una nagka-shin split po ako. Tapos noong gumaling ang shin split, lumipat naman sa tuhod, nagkabukol siya. Nagre-recovery naman siya maayos,” said Bagunas. “Nu’ng medyo umu-OK na siya, sa training naatrasan pa siya ni Ricky. Na-hyper extend.”
“Medyo OK na kasi ako eh, yun nga lang naulitan ni Ricky. Makakalaro na sana ako ngayon,” added Bagunas, who in his rookie year injured his wrist.
Bagunas said that tests showed negative signs of any major injury and he will just need a few days of rest and conditioning to get back in tip-top shape for NU’s drive for a spot in the Final Four and a twice-to-beat advantage.
The Bulldogs are on third spot with a 7-4 win-loss record behind Final Four-bound defending champion Ateneo de Manila (10-1) and second-running Adamson Falcons (8-3).
NU will resume its campaign on March 30 against University of Sto. Tomas.
