“It’s better na nagyari na lang siya ngayon na mas maaga, hindi dun sa later part eh, like in the Final Four.” - UST coach Marjo Allado
After going their first eight games without a single loss, the University of Santo Tomas Tigers suffered their first defeat of the season, a 4-0 shutout at the hands of the surging Far Eastern University Tamaraws.
While it was certainly something that they wished they could avoid, Tigers coach Marjo Allado isn’t too worried about it, and simply told his boys to move on from the setback.
“Forget about this game. Kunin lang natin yung mga pwede natin pag-aralan dito,” Allado shared with ABS-CBN Sports what he told his Tigers after the match. “Hindi tayo pwedeng mag-stay sa talo na ‘to, kasi baka madistract lang kayo. “
Allado also believes that this was the right timing for their first loss, and it gives them more time to adjust and correct their mistakes.
“It’s better na nagyari na lang siya ngayon na mas maaga, hindi dun sa later part eh, like in the Final Four.”
Allado and the UST Tigers still remain at the top of the UAAP Men’s Football standings with 18 points, while FEU and DLSU are close behind with 17 points.
Allado now shifts his focus on to the next games, and says that they need to take advantage, especially against the lower seeded teams.
“Yung lesson lang dito ngayon, kailangan talaga namin mag-step up,” Allado said. “You have to play like a number one eh. “
