University of Sto. Tomas and Far Eastern University take the floor in a tug-of-war for position in the race for the remaining two Final Four slots.
Far Eastern University and University of Sto. Tomas march in a crucial battle that could decide their fate in their respective last push for the remaining two Final Four slots in the 78th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.
The result of Wednesday’s clash will greatly impact the scenario in the race to join league-leading two-time defending champion Atene de Manila and De La Salle University.
Game time is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. and will air live over ABS-CBN Sports+Action HD Channel 166, ABS-CBN Sports+Action Channel 23 and via livestream on sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/uaap.
The Lady Tamaraws occupy the fourth spot with a 6-5 win-loss record but breathing down their necks are the Golden Tigresses, just a step behind with a 5-6 mark tied with the National University Lady Bulldogs.
A win by FEU, which is fresh from a five-set escape against NU, 27-25, 25-17, 22-25, 26-28, 15-10 before the Holy Week break, coupled by a Lady Bulldogs triumph over University of the Philippines in the 4:00 p.m. match will give the Lady Tams at least a playoff for a spot in the semifinals.
On the other hand, a UST win will keep the Espana-based squad in contention and put FEU in a more difficult path in its drive for a Final Four seat.
The Tigresses absorbed a quick 20-25, 18-25, 18-25, whipping from the Lady Eagles last March 19.
FEU won in four-sets against UST in the first round.
