Matches on Thursday, March 31 (Moro Lorenzo Football Field)
2:00 PM – UE vs. UP (Men’s)
4:00 PM – Adamson vs. FEU (Men’s)
UAAP football action returns Thursday at the Moro Lorenzo Football Field in Ateneo de Manila when University of the East takes on University of the Philippines and Adamson University faces Far Eastern University.
Currently outside of the Final Four picture, the UP Maroons are building a bit of momentum after handing De La Salle their second straight loss of the season in their most recent outing. While the Maroons are still going through a bit of an adjustment period this season, they’ve done well for themselves, staying in the mix for another post-season appearance.
In terms of points, UP is tied with NU and Ateneo at 15, but goal difference pushes them down to sixth place. A win this afternoon however, will push them back up to fourth place.
The UE Red Warriors are still in search of their first win this season, and have come close on a few occasions only to come up short. In their last outing, they dropped a 0-2 loss to NU.
The last time that UE and UP met, Raphael Resuma and Vincent Aguilar powered the maroons to a 2-0 win.
The Far Eastern University Tamaraws are on quite a tear and have been reminding everyone lately just why they’re the defending champions. They’re currently riding a four game winning streak, which included the Tams handing DLSU and UST their first losses of the season. Now tied with the Green Archers for second place with 17 points, a win today will send them to the top of the men’s standings.
The last two outings have been nothing but rough for the Adamson Falcons, after suffering two straight 7-0 blowouts at the hands of NU and Ateneo. Things won’t get any easier though, as they face an FEU team known to pile on the goals.
The last time that FEU and Adamson met, rookie sensation Rico Andes scored a brace to help the Tams beat the Falcons, 4-0.
