FLY HIGH. Adamson climbed higher in the standings and put themselves in prime position for a twice-to-beat incentive.
Adamson University got tripped en route to their destination, but they got back up just in time to reach the Final Four in the 78th Season UAAP Men’s Volleyball Tournament.
Denied a sweep, Mike Sudaria put the Soaring Falcons on his back in the fourth set all the way to a 25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 25-17 triumph over University of the East on Saturday at the MOA Arena.
The Falcons handled their opponents easy in the first couple of sets before getting complacent and handing over the third. Fortunately, their team captain settled them down quickly enough to end it all in the fourth.
Sudaria scored 21 points to show the way for Adamson in clinching a spot in the semifinals now with a 9-3 record. Jerome Sarmiento added 13 markers as they took full advantage of 35 of their opponents’ errors.
The win also boosted the San Marcelino-based squad’s chances at a playoff incentive all while keeping them in the running for the top-seed. As their team captain put it, “Tingin ko kelangan talaga namin twice-to-beat kasi yun talaga pinaghihirapan namin. Kelangan yun para makapasok sa Finals.”
On the other hand, the Red Warriors remained winless through 12 games.
