The road to the finals for one team will go through Taft.
With an eighth consecutive Final Four berth already in the bag, it's all about positioning for the mighty Lady Spikers.
La Salle solidified its case to be the top overall seed in the playoffs after a quick 25-16, 25-17, 25-11 workout against winless University of the East in the second round of the UAAP Season 78 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Saturday.
Technically the number 2 team heading into today's matchup despite being tied to rival Ateneo with identical 9-2 cards, the Lady Spikers momentarily occupy the top spot at 10-2 with their fifth straight win.
La Salle also clinched one of the two twice-to-beat advantages in the Final Four.
After a competitive first two sets, the Lady Spikers flipped the switch in the third and posted a 17-point lead, 20-3, to take the fight out of the Lady Warriors.
"Yung 1-2 wala ng aabot eh, kumabaga placing na lang kukunin," head coach Ramil De Jesus said. "Sinasabi ko lang sa mga bata na mas maganda na daanan mo lahat ng opponent na talunin para ma-build yung confidence sa semis."
For the fifth straight game, Kim Dy once again led La Salle with 14 points. Ara Galang added 12.
Despite only getting their first attack point in the second set, the Lady Warriors took advantage of 26 La Salle errors to be competitive in the game's early goings.
It was not enough however, as the Lady Warriors dropped to 0-12 for the season and a 57-game losing skid dating back to Season 74.
Shaya Adorador led UE with seven points.
