It was not easy but the Lady Tamaraws clinched third seed after a tough four-set victory over Adamson.
Safe to say Far Eastern University earned the third seed the hard way.
The Lady Tamaraws once again figured in an intense matchup against the Adamson Lady Falcons before finding a way to win a 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 28-26 decision in the UAAP Season 78 women's volleyball tournament at the San Juan Arena Wednesday.
After giving up a 5-0 run late in the fourth set, the Lady Tamaraws saved five set points before Jerrili Malabanan gave FEU the win with a service ace, 28-26.
The Lady Tamaraws ended their regular season with four straight wins for a 9-5 record and a second straight trip to the Final Four.
"At least na-reach na namin yung number 3," head coach Shaq Delos Santos said. "Thank you kay God kasi sobrang di niya kami pinabayaan, wala akong masabi."
After flashbacks of their round 1 matchup against the same team haunted the Lady Tamaraws in the fourth set, Delos Santos simply reminded his girls to think about their three previous wins where they dispatched NU, UST and UP in impressive fashion.
"Sinabi ko na kanina na wag isipin yung last game against Adamson, isipin natin na nagawa yung tatlong sunod na panalo," he said referring to the Feb. 24 game that saw FEU lose a two set advantage.
Bernadeth Pons once again led the Lady Tamaraws with 19 points, including a big hit that pushed Morayta to match point, 27-26.
Malabanan added 11 for FEU while Toni Rose Basas and team captain Remy Palma added 10 apiece.
Adamson, which is yet to win a game in the second round, dropped to 3-10 after a sixth straight defeat.
Rookie Bernadette Flora led the Lady Falcons with 13 points as the team was without sophomore May Roque who suffered a torn ACL a couple of days ago.
Jemma Galanza also finished with 13.
