Adamson and UST battled to a 1-1 draw, Saturday afternoon at the McKinley Hill Stadium
Jusuel Pilarca scored early in the second half, while Ronald Batisla-ong connected on a stunning equalizer as Adamson University and University of Santo Tomas went to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of UAAP Men’s Football action.
After a tight first half that ended in a scoreless stalemate, Adamson pushed the action in the second half, coming out more aggressive and finding more opportunites at the goal.
Around nine minutes into the second half, Pilarca managed to capitalize on an open goal and tip the ball in for the 1-0 advantage after 54 minutes.
The Tigers saw themselves facing a damaging third straight loss, until skipper Batisla-ong blasted in one hell of an equalizer, taking the shot nearly from the middle of the pitch and sending it past Adamson keeper Carl Viray in the 61st minute.
It was Adamson however, who continued to apply pressure in the remainder of the second half, getting some good chances that would have easily made it 3-1.
In the end though, the Tigers managed to hang on and hold Adamson to an important draw.
While the Falcons weren’t able to escape with their second win of the season, Season 78 has already been a vast improvement from the previous one, as they ended Season 77 winless and at the bottom of the standings. This time around, they’ve already got a win and a draw for four points. While Adamson coach Nolan Manito sees that there’s been improvement, he knows that there’s still a lot of work to be done.
“Nag-progress talaga kami, kita naman natin ‘yan, one win tsaka one draw. Sa tingin ko, kailangan pa din namin magtrabaho.”
With their four points, the Falcons are currently at the seventh seed, above winless UE.
UST re-enters the final four picture, overtaking Ateneo with 19 points.
