The Tamaraws did what they had to do, now they wait.
Far Eastern University did what it had to do and the Tamaraws' Final Four destiny is momentarily out of their hands.
The Tamaraws blasted rival UST in straight sets, 25-23, 25-22, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 78 men's volleyball tournament at the San Juan Arena Wednesday to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Finishing with an even 7-7 record, the Morayta-based spikers did enough to stay alive but the Tamaraws will be eliminated outright if the University of the Philippines beat Adamson University.
FEU gets a Final Four playoff against UP for the right to face defending champion Ateneo if the Falcons take down the Maroons.
The Tamaraws were all business, avoiding outright elimination against the also-ran Tiger Spikers.
Jeric Gagutan led the FEU offense in the sweep, finishing with 14 points while Jude Garcia added 10 markers.
UST, the number 2 seed in Season 77, was led by Manuel Medina and Patrick Balse who scored eight apiece.
After losing key pieces from their previous campaign, the Tiger Spikers ended a transitional season with a disappointing 4-10 record.
