Team captain Ysay Marasigan and the rest of the Blue Eagles are heading to another Finals appearance.
There is a difference between a team that has been winning all year and a team that barely made it to the playoffs.
Defending champion Ateneo Blue Eagles proved that they are just on another level after blasting University of the Philippines, 25-12, 25-13, 25-16, in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 78 men's volleyball tournament at the MOA arena Sunday.
The Blue Eagles won their 12th straight victory dating back to the regular season and advanced to a third straight finals appearance.
Ateneo absolutely dominated in its latest Final Four apperanc, finishing the fourth-seeded Maroons in just 64 minutes.
"Easy game but not easy preparation," Ateneo head coach Oliver Almadro said. "I told my players not to take UP lightly. Sabi ko kung determined yung UP we have to be more determined."
The Blue Eagles certainly look determined as the champs controlled the first two sets against the Maroons who were making their first Final Four apperance since 2011.
UP was more competitive in the third set but the result was never in doubt that Ateneo managed to rest some startes early.
Two-time MVP Marck Espejo was his usual self, scoring 12 points, to lead the Eagles. Team captain Ysay Marasigan added 11 for Ateneo.
UP captain Alfred Valbuena led the Maroons in scoring with eight points.
The Blue Eagles now await to winner of the NU-Adamson Final Four matchup in the finals.
