Skipper Ronald Batisla-ong (16) scored a brace to help keep UST in the Final Four race
Needing all the points that they could get, University of Santo Tomas made easy work of struggling University of the East, 3-0, Sunday evening at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig.
Team captain Ronald Batisla-ong, who seems to have found his scoring stride recently, provided the spark for the Growling Tigers, as he started off early, scoring in the 26th minute.
Only eleven minutes later, the senior skipper struck again, making it a comfortable 2-0 lead for the Tigers heading into the midgame break.
Marvin Bricenio put the finishing touches, scoring in the 82nd minute to seal the important Growling Tigers win.
The important three points put the Growling Tigers in fourth place in the standings, and will have one more game to clinch or relinquish a spot in the Final Four, against De La Salle.
A win or a draw against the Green Archers will ensure them a spot in the semifinals. Should the Tigers lose, an FEU loss against UP would keep them in the semifinals.
