DLSU was all business against UST despite being assured of a Final Four berth.
Both De La Salle and UST were assured of the Final Four but it didn't mean that their matchup was a waste of time.
The Green Archers were all business and scored a commanding 4-0 win over the Growling Tigers in the UAAP Season 78 men's football tournament at the Moro Lorenzo field in Ateneo Thursday.
With the victory, the Archers secured the number 2 seed and will face rival Ateneo in the semifinals.
A win by the Tigers would have forced a rematch between the two teams in the playoffs but UST will settle for a date against top-seed UP in the Final Four.
Gelo Diamante scored two goals in the first half to put the Green Archers in total control of the match.
Jolem Feril scored a goal for the Tigers early in the second half but is was called off for being offside.
It was all DLSU after that as the Archers added another two goals courtesy of Jhoguev Ybanez (61') and Yoshiharu Koizumi (74').
"Everything was smooth and academic already after the first game," head coach Hans Smit said referring to the fact that the Final Four cast was complete following FEU's loss to UP.
"I just told the boys that we continue playing what we practiced regardless of what happened. We need to prepare for the semis. That's the only thing now that we have to look forward to," he added.
The game slowed down a bit after La Salle scored its third goal as both teams put in some of their bench players to protect starters from injuries and yellow cards.
La Salle just finished one short of UP for the top spot with 29 points while UST tiead Ateneo with 25.
However, the Blue Eagles get the number 3 seed with superior goal difference.
